Why do some people feel the need to slam on their brakes on the freeway just because there is a cement block on the side of the lane separating the work crew from certain danger?  It’s not as if the lane is some how to small for their car.  It may appear that the lane is smaller.  But when they can clearly see that the cars ahead of them have successfully made it through the apparent danger zone, it should be clear to them that they might just make it too.   But no!  Instead they have to slam on their brakes, stop traffic, open the glove box, dig around for that measuring thing, settling for a sturdy yard stick (LOL) they get out and measure the area between the two lane lines.  Then turning to measure the cars width, while there is now a 10 car pile up about a mile back.  They get in the car and go…  (at least this is what it feels like)
