This Old house

This home is old but sweet
With an open heart for all to see

The doors may creak, the paint will peel
The snow will seep through the window seals

Covered in rich woods of birch and of cherry
Protecting from storms, intense and quite scary

Standing alone in a forest, over grown and lush green
The sound of the river is all that keeps this home company

The kitchen floor is so warped you think it will cave in
The tub is so old, your entire body fits within

A fireplace of stone, stands alone and daunting
Without a fire burning it seems somewhat haunting

You know the times this home as seen
The Easter mornings and Christmas feasts

You feel the pain for the love that was here and died
you see their names listed on the back of the house inside

You can see it all the height charts and cement foot prints
Displaying the growth and the summers the kids spent

It’s proof this home was a perfect fit
To bad it lasted and the family didn’t

      Funny lolamouse,
I started it as a different poem all together while in Woodstock, NY. Then finished it yesterday at home. It’s very telling to me.
      Thanks for your time
